As I repeatedly argue in my book, “The 7 Biggest Mistakes That Will Destroy Your Car Accident Case”, Insurance Companies will fight your case tooth and nail. Recently, CNN investigated the way that insurance companies are handling claims and trying to rip you off. Watch the videos below for more information.
One thing I do disagree with is that the video talks about some cases being dragged out for up to three years. I think this only applies to cases where the injured party spends a lot of that time trying to deal with the insurance company on their own before hiring a personal injury lawyer. I have never had a case last that long. If treatment is close to being finished, we will generally file suit immediately (if we know we won’t be able to settle with the insurance company otherwise). Depending on the court, it usually takes 12-18 months to get to trial and approximately 90% of those cases settle at some time before trial.
