Six people were taken to Lincoln County area hospitals after a Missouri car accident that occurred on August 27, 2011. Injured in the car accident were two adults, three teenagers, and one child with injuries ranging from minor to serious. The accident happened on Highway 47 at Gravens when 19-year-old Angela S. Linhorst ran a stop sign in her 1999 Ford Taurus. In the middle of the intersection, Linhorst collided with the front end of James E. Koeneman’s 2003 Ford F150. Linhorst’s vehicle was totaled and Koeneman’s vehicle only received moderate damage.
Linhorst and three of her occupants, 15-year-old Heather Schneider, 13-year-old Nichole Lindhorst, and 10-year-old Alex Schneider, suffered minor injuries. Koeneman’s occupant, 30-year-old Douglas J. Koeneman suffered moderate injuries. One occupant in Linhorst’s vehicle, 13-year-old Abigail Schneider was seriously injured and airlifted by Air Evac to Children’s Hospital to be treated. All other injured victims were taken by Lincoln County Ambulance to St. Joseph West Hospital.
Running a stop sign or a red light is a violation of Missouri statutes 304.271, which requires all drivers to obey all traffic control devices. The statute states, “The driver of any vehicle shall obey the instructions of any official traffic-control device applicable thereto placed in accordance with the provisions of the law.” When a driver violates the statute they put others in danger. When a driver runs a red light or stop sign and it results in a Missouri car accident, the violation of the statute could be used to prove the negligence of the driver in a personal injury case.
There are many ways a negligent driver can be dangerous on the road. When a driver does not pay attention or makes a dangerous decision, victims have to deal with the stress of the accident. If a negligent driver has injured you, please consult an experienced Missouri car accident attorney immediately. Seeking legal counsel soon after an accident is essential to building a case against the negligent driver. Call 888.956.2487 to discuss your car accident claim and let us investigate for you.
