Jefferson County Car Accident Should Have Been Prevented
Post Date: November 9th, 2010
When driving on the road, there is nothing more important than being aware of the other vehicles around you, but sometimes you can’t protect yourself from negligent drivers. As a Missouri car accident lawyer handling cases in Jefferson County, I read about negligent drivers every day. A two-vehicle accident on November 7, 2010 caught my attention because the accident could have been avoided with a little patience and common sense.
The motor vehicle accident took place in Jefferson County just before 4:00 p.m. on Highway 30. 71-year-old William Hoare was driving his 2008 Dodge Caravan eastbound near Route B, when 16-year-old Kayla Elder made a left hand turn in front of him. Hoare was unable to avoid colliding with Elder and crashed into her 2002 Dodge Ram truck. Both vehicles sustained damage in the collision and five people were sent to the hospital.
Elder was not injured in the accident, but Hoare and his four passengers, Nicolas Bendillo, Robert Larson, Carroll Posey, and Joseph Pusateri, were taken to St. Anthony’s Hospital for treatment of their injuries. The lives of the victims were saved because everyone in the accident was wearing their seat belts. If the victims had not been wearing their seat belts, their injuries could have been much worse.
When a negligent driver causes a motor vehicle accident, the outcome can be devastating for those injured. Not only do the victims have to deal with a wrecked vehicle, they also have to deal with their injuries and take time to recover.
